The OIC Secretary General Reiterates Appeals to the Indian Government to Ensure the Sanctity of the Babri Mosque

The Secretary General has noted with deep concern the recent statements of the Indian leadership, which encourage the construction of a temple at the site of the destroyed Babri Mosque.

The Secretary General reiterates the several appeals made by the Organization of the Islamic Conference to the Indian Government to prevent any violation of the sanctity of the Mosque and calls upon the Government of India to take immediate steps to implement its solemn commitment to the reconstruction the Babri Mosque on its original site and to remove the makeshift Hindu temple.

The Secretary General hopes that Government of India will ensure the sanctity of five-century-old Babri mosque and would also protect other Islamic Holy places in India.
