Recent Israeli Aggression against Lebanon

The Secretary-General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Dr. Abdelouahed Belkeziz is following with utmost concern the Israeli aggression against the Lebanese territories which targeted a position for the Syrian forces stationed in Lebanon and resulted in the martyrdom and wounding of a number of individuals as well as the destruction of some buildings.

While condemning this new Israeli aggression, the Secretary-General considers it a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon, and an attempt to drag other States towards confrontation, and, consequently, widen the circle of conflict and sabotage the entire peace process.

In this respect, the Secretary-General affirms the solidarity of the Organization of the Islamic Conference with the Government and people of Lebanon in their struggle aimed at liberating their entire land.

He calls upon the international community to denounce these Israeli practices, compel Israel to halt its aggressions and implement the resolutions of the international legitimacy as reflected in the UN Security Council resolutions 242, 338 and 425 which provide for the complete Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Palestinian, Lebanese and Syrian territories.

The Secretary-General is of the view that the solution to the Middle East crisis depends only on resumption of negotiations from the point at which they have stopped, and achieving a peaceful, just and comprehensive solution that brings the conflict in the regions to an end.
